Hi
I planning to use AC 21 from Next week, I plan to call my parents in July 2008, What should I mention as my Immigration Status in Invitation letter.
As I will not be on H1B and neither I have Green Card ?
I talked to lot of people about using AC21, nobody is clear.
Since you confirmly mentioned that you'll invoke AC21 next week, could you inform us as you proceed further in this process. Please remember you are helping the whole community.
PS: Sorry I could not answer your question.

Thank you. So we do have to answer "Yes" to all the 3 questions!
I think so, if an I-485 has been applied for the dependent.

With the first question what it sounds like you want to do is open your image (you may have to copy and paste it into a new document, not sure)...
Select the layer with your image then go to Image/Adjustments/Hue Saturation (this is in Photoshop 7, it is still under the Image menu in 6, but Adjustments was named something else, which I forget now)
Then check the colorize checkbox and slide the sliders to the color you want.
As for your second question, yes it is possible. You can use the Lasso tool. If you have the toolbar pallette open, it is the tool right under that Rectangle Marquee tool. You can right click on the lasso tool to choose between 3 different types of lassos. The rounded one is to select an area freehand style, the jaggety one is to select an area by clicking points, and the one with the magnet allows you to better outline things.
I hope this helps. If not, reply back:)

Correct, donot waste your time predicting, rather use it for packing your bags!!
Absolutely... As days go by, i am inclined more on packing my bags and leaving, than pursuing my American Dream.
All these predictions are joke. Dont waste your time. Admins should close this Thread.

Don't read too much into it. Somebody might just be doing trivial mass updates (like moving your info from one database table to another ;)), and you will get a soft LUD.
Seriously, I had a hobby before I got my GC (I got approved last Saturday only). I have registered all my previous approved and expired h1b petitions into the case status online system. Some of them are as old as year 2002. I frequently get soft LUDs on them. One of my petition was approved it 2002. It expired in 2004. And yet, I still get soft LUD on this petition every 3 month or so. The last one was in the month of June this year.
So I really don't think there is much significance of a soft LUD.

AILA Leadership Has Just Posted the Following:
Senator Sessions cannot leave his hands off of E-Verify. Now in "stealth" mode, Senator Sessions has slyly introduced an E-Verify amendment (SB 1371) during today's full Senate vote on the DHS appropriations bill.
The Sessions amendment calls for a permanent reauthorization of the Basic Pilot/E-Verify program, and mandates its use for all federal contractors and subcontractors - including the verification of all existing employees. This amounts to a massive expansion of a program that is still not ready for prime-time.
We must call our Senators and tell them to oppose this sneak attack by Senator Sessions for the following reasons:
It would impose exorbitant costs on businesses at a time when our economy is most vulnerable:
An economic analysis commissioned by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
concluded that the net societal costs of the program would be $10 billion a year
a cost that would be felt disproportionately by small businesses. It would make Basic Pilot/E-Verify permanent without addressing its well documented database inaccuracies:
A 2007 independent evaluation of the program commissioned by DHS found that
the Basic Pilot/E-Verify database is still not sufficiently up to date to meet
the requirements for accurate verification.
SSA has estimated that if Basic Pilot/E-Verify were to become mandatory and
the databases were not improved, SSA database errors alone could result in 3.6
million workers a year being misidentified as not authorized for employment.
This would result in 6 out of every 100 workers having to visit an SSA office to
correct their records or lose their job.
It would force workers and businesses to pay a high price for Basic Pilot/E-Verify's inaccuracies:
Queries submitted to Basic Pilot/E-Verify by Intel Corporation in 2008 resulted
in nearly 13 percent of all workers being initially flagged as unauthorized for
employment. All of these workers were cleared by Basic Pilot/E-Verify as
work-authorized, but only after significant investment of time and money
and lost productivity. We urge all AILA members to call their Congressman today and oppose the Sessions amendment (SB 1371). Don't let Senator Session's stealth tactics create a nationwide crisis for employers!

Washington, D.C. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-San Jose) today introduced a bill to void the recent increases in immigration fees by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The bill would void the new fee structure set to take effect today and reinstate the previous fee structure. The bill also states that USCIS has consistently failed to reduce application backlogs and has suffered from a lack of transparency and effective management.
Our immigration services need to move into the 21st century, stated Rep. Zoe Lofgren. But, USCIS has consistently failed to explain or justify the amounts and distributions of this new fee increase. While I agree that USCIS needs to modernize its existing infrastructure and procedures, they must do so in a transparent and open manner. After repeated requests over several months, USCIS has yet to provide Congress with a detailed plan for its infrastructure modernization efforts. Our immigration system should be both effective and fair; sacrificing one to achieve the other should not be an option.
Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren is serving her seventh term in Congress representing most of the City of San Jose and Santa Clara County. She serves as Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law. She also Chairs the House Administration Subcommittee on Elections and serves on the House Homeland Security Committee. Congresswoman Lofgren is Chair of the California Democratic Congressional Delegation consisting of 34 Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives from California.

Hello folks !
Let me present my case before you all.
I came to US on H1B visa in 2004 and then my previous visa expired in 2006 and I have extended that visa but do not have it stamped on my passport as because I have not left USA during this period.
Now, I have changed a job 3 montsh back and my new employer is doing the H1B transfer which is in process. I have received the "receipt number" but yet to get the documents back from USCIS.
At this time, is it possible for me to switch to another job without having the papers from USCIS on the basis of the receipt number alone ? Or do I wait for the papers to come back from USCIS before I can think of switching another job ?
An early response is appreciated...
Thanks

I am going out of country for 8 weeks, do you think i can move to state minimum insruance during this period and save some money ?
Please provide your valuable opinion.
Thanks
You can definitely save money by doing that. I had to keep my car in storage for an extended period when I was away and I just kept the comprehensive part of the insurance coverage and removed all others including collision since I was not driving it. The cost of insurance with out the collision, etc. is very low.
